Buiding A Whare Uku - and Earth House

While traveling in the the Far North of New Zealand a couple of years ago Bryan  Bruce  met Ruben Porter who has come up with his own solution to solving New Zealand's affordable housing problem. It's called the Whare Uku or a house made out of the earth . With he assistance of the University of Auckland's engineering department Rueben is building beautiful homes using rammed earth construction and locally milled timber. But as I discovered Rueben's not doing it just for himself but to help others
